and that's the point the tappet problems begin when cold there for the cold viscosity of the oil is what needs to be altered to stop the problem the tappets first turn of the engine with 10w means they do not fill correctly making them tap now when they are tapping the internal parts of the tappet are moving over each other much more than they should meaning premature wear if you stop the cold tapping you stop the wear that eventually leads to hot tapping

fiat now recommend 5w40 on the 16v fire engines as dave has said now the tappets in earlier fires compared to later ones have not changed in any way so why do you think fiat changed there mind on oil viscosity

ps my farther has been working for fiat main dealers for over 30 years and has been selected to competed in many fiat top technition awards over the years coming out near or on top 94.95.96.97 and so on he has more recently achieved an ata accreditation as a master technition so don't tell me i don't have any source of reliable accurate information and experience i myself may have only been doing the job or a little over 3 years but have lived and breathed fiat's since childhood

כבר רשמתי בעבר,
הספרה הראשונה 5w או 10w היא צמיגות השמן כשהוא קר
והמספר השני w40 הוא צמיגות השמן שהוא בטמפרטורת עבודה.
כך שהצמיגות בטמפרטורת עבודה זהה, ההבדל הוא הצמיגות כשהשמן קר, יותר קל ויותר מהר להניע אותו לחלקי המנוע.
עכשיו לגבי סינטטי מלא וחצי סינטטי אינני יודע את ההבדל.
וכן החלפתי מ-10w40 ל-5w40 והמנוע שקט יותר ואין את רעש הדפיקות הקלות האלה שהיו, אז לזה אני מתכוון שהמנוע עובד יותר טוב.
